Former MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy joins AAP along with supporters

Chandigarh. Former Punjab MLA Dalvir Singh Goldy, accompanied by his supporters, officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP's Sangrur candidate, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer.

CM Mann, referencing the party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, emphasized AAP's commitment to embracing capable individuals from other political backgrounds who might have felt marginalized. "I have always advocated for the inclusion of youth in politics to drive meaningful change.

Feeling neglected within the Congress, Goldy's decision to join AAP is akin to welcoming a younger brother into our fold," Mann stated, extending a warm invitation to Goldy on behalf of the people of Punjab.

Goldy's departure from the Congress came on Tuesday, following his dissatisfaction with being denied a party ticket for the Sangrur constituency. In his resignation letter addressed to Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Goldy expressed his disappointment with the state leadership and announced his resignation from the party's primary membership. The announcement was made public through Goldy's Facebook post.

Goldy, who previously served as an MLA representing the Dhuri constituency, had aspired to contest from Sangrur in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, the Congress ultimately selected three-time MLA Sukhpal Khaira as its candidate for the constituency.
