Vande Bharat loco pilot among special invitees for PM's swearing-in ceremony

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take oath for his third successive term on June 9 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The list of invitees for this special occasion includes Aiswarya S Menon, a senior assistant loco pilot of the Chennai Division of the Southern Railway. She will be among 8,000 special guests at the swearing-in ceremony. 

Currently working on Vande Bharat trains, Menon has completed more than 2 lakh footplate hours piloting various trains such as Vande Bharat Express and Jan Shatabdi. Additionally, she has also worked on the Chennai-Vijayawada and Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express services since their introduction in the Indian Railways. She is amongst ten loco pilots who will grace the occasion with their presence.

As per her senior officers, Menon is widely acclaimed for her awareness, agility and thorough understanding of the functioning of the railway signalling. She has garnered widespread recognition for her exceptional work. 

8000 guests invited 

The arrangement of all facilities has been made in the Rashtrapati Bhavan that will witness the presence of 8000 guests from across the globe, including world leaders and also sanitation workers, transgenders, and labourers who worked on the Central Vista Project as per some sources. 

Asia's first loco pilot to attend the ceremony 

Surekha Yadav, Asia's first woman loco pilot, is also among those going to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Yadav is currently piloting the Vande Bharat train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Solapur. She holds a historic record of becoming India's first female train driver in 1988 and is also the first woman loco pilot of the semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express.
