Global Times predicts PM Modi's victory for third term

Global Times, which is also known as the mouthpiece of Xi Jinping's government in China claimed that Narendra Modi will be back in his third term in India. Chinese experts pointed out that Modi's general domestic and foreign policies will remain consistent as he is expected to continue his efforts to support the nation's economic growth. However, the real picture will surface on Tuesday, June 4, when the Election Commission of India will release the results for the Lok Sabha Elections.

Notably, this has come after exit polls indicated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to win a third consecutive term in office. Analysts stressed that for the two countries' relationship to return to a stable and for healthy path of growth, India and China must work together to maintain open communication to resolve issues.

Global Times also mentioned that Narendra Modi will promote the country's economic activity, due to which trade with China will see a hike. There are chances of increasing trade and strategic partnership between India and China. Both countries will hold talks for sustainable development and will give the right direction to their spoiled relations.

The media house asserted that Narendra Modi will come to power once again. Notably, he will be the second leader after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to remain Prime Minister for such a long time.

While speaking with Global Times, Professor Qian Feng of Tsinghua University said that Narendra Modi will continue with the domestic and foreign policy objectives that he has set for India. PM Modi has a strong focus on making the country, the world’s third-largest economy after the United States and China.

India-China relations

During an interview with the US magazine Newsweek in April, Narendra Modi underlined the significance of the relations between India and China. He asserted that there is immediate attention required to the prolonged situation on borders. PM Modi had also said that stable and peaceful relations between India and China are important not only for the two countries but for the entire region and the world.

Additionally, analysts believe that better relations between China and India may result from India's ability to cooperate with China during the upcoming prime ministerial term.
